Hebrews 10:24-25:  “And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”

Let’s stir one another up to intentionally put God’s word in our hearts and minds….let’s encourage one another to do this!

If you have an iPhone, spend the $2.99 for the Figher Verse App from Children Desiring God.  It is great.  Do you need a program like this to memorize the Word?  Of course not, but it sure does help to have a systematic way to do it.  If you don’t have an Android or iPhone, here is the link, and you can do the same thing. Put it in your favorites and use it as a family.  You will be blessed.  And you will have the Sword available to use with skill and precision when the enemy is working.

Paul tells us in Romans that we are to be transformed….how you ask?  By the renewing of the mind!  A big part of renewing the mind is put God’s Word there!

MCST–What U Gonna Do?

Posted: January 5, 2012 in Discipleship

Great course offerings through the MCST this semester, which starts this Sunday, 1.8.12.

The Christ-Centered Life

NT Survey

Read the Bible for Life

Courageous:  Honor Begins in the Home

Experiencing God

The Truth Project

James (for women)

I highly recommend The Truth Project (great impact on me regarding worldview), Read the Bible for Life (great class to teach you how to better study the Word and how to see the grand story of redemption throughout the Bible), Experiencing God (very practical and helps you to better understand God and how to join Him in His work), Hebrews (a great NT book), and The Christ-Centered Life (never taken it but familiar w/ the material), as well as NT survey (how could one go wrong with that).

Transformation comes through renewing the mind according to Paul in Romans 12.  So let’s all be a part of MCST.  It would be great to see a bunch of young folk there on a Sunday night who want to dig into God’s Word.

Thankful for Lynwood and it’s desire to disciple its peeps.

Recommended Resource

Mark mentioned Sunday that Lynwood would be reading through the Bible chronologically in 2012.  George Guthrie, author of Read the Bible for Life, has a great resource to help with this.  It is the “Reader’s Guide To The Bible:  A Chronological Reading Plan”.  It is available at LifeWay in Cape (no, Michael Wilson did not put me up to this).

I bought the guide a few months ago and plan to use it in 2012.  The guide is broken into 3 “Acts”.  Each “Act” covers a different theme of Scripture.  Act 1 is God’s Plan for All People, Acts 2 is God’s Covenant People, and Act 3 is God’s New Covenant People.

Each week, Dr. Guthrie (or George as I like to call him) gives an overview of the week’s readings and each day has a short bit of helpful commentary and questions to ponder/meditate on.

There are also three timelines in the book; 2 OT and 1 NT that really help you tie the events of Scripture together.

I’m telling you, it looks like a great resource.  Go grab one today.  Or grab more than one and give one away!
