Update on the Underwoods

Posted: March 30, 2012 in news

Here is an update on the Underwoods—things have changed!  The following info is from Becca….

We did clear embassy Monday night which means all we have left to do is go get Kabaina.  However, that same email also informed us that we would not be able to get our embassy appointment scheduled for next week.  They scheduled our interview for Tuesday, April 10.  Yesterday we had to pay a nice fee and change our tickets (we were originally going to be leaving today).  We will now be leaving next Friday and will arrive in Addis on Easter.  We should pick up Kabaina from the care center on Monday the 9th.  We should be home Saturday 14th.
Our kids are not feeling 100% yet but they are doing much, much better.  They tested positive for the flu on Monday.  It will be much easier to leave them knowing they are healthy.
Our biggest prayer requests now are that we will be able to pay for Kabaina’s birth mom to fly back to Addis and we will be able to meet her, Kabaina will be able to handle the huge changes in her life, and that we will be able to communicate despite the language barrier.  Also, on the way home we will be spending 13 hours (after a 17 hour flight) in the airport in DC with two tired girls.  One of which will not speak English!
Thanks for your prayers and support over the past two years!

Do Not Love The World

Posted: March 16, 2012 in Upcoming lessons

Sunday we will look at 1 John 2:15-17.  Will be a great sermon and great opportunity to go a little deeper in class and be open/real/honest with each other.

John gives a command in verse 15—-do not love the world or the things in the world…and then explains why we should follow that command in verses 15-17.

Think about what you are chasing.  Think about your desires.  Think about where you find fulfillment.  Think about what you love.

Prayer Request Update

Posted: March 13, 2012 in news

As you recall, the Ogburns recently were able to be involved in helping a child overseas receive life saving heart surgery.  Here is an update:

The child (Mark) is in ICU and has had some complications (chylorrhea & has lost some blood and experienced cardiac failure).  The doctors have had to replace a drainage tube, and baby Mark has had to receive blood as well as oxygen.

Please pray for the chylorrhea to resolve, the bleeding to stop, and that his condition will stabilize and that his recovery will progress well.

Also please pray for the parents—Vladimir and Anna

Send me a message with your email if you did not get an invite to join the madness.

Are you a bracket man….or bracket woman?

Thursday night, March 15th at 6 p.m. the women of the class will get together for fellowship and dinner to celebrate the recent addition of Baby Emily to the Bowman family and the upcoming arrival of Baby Girl to the Ewasko family! Right now the meeting place is scheduled for My Daddy’s Cheesecake, but that is subject to change, so stay tuned for updates. Gift ideas: gift cards, diapers, and other baby essentials. Looking forward to a fun night of celebration with the girls (this is Brandi)!

Check out 1 John 2:12-17 for Sunday.  That is the text Mark will be preaching on and it is the text will cover in class as well.  We will hear about and discuss living with confidence and being separated from the world.

Also, do not forget to spring forward Saturday night before you go to bed.  It stinks losing that hour of sleep.
