Sunday Brandi and I will be out of town….but no fear, Jason Bandermann is here!  Lesson is going to be over Acts 9….check out the lesson in your folders and read the chapter.  It is over the conversion of Saul.

Here is  line from the lesson…Saul’s attempt to stamp out the Church had actually done the opposite. As Turtullian, an early Church Father said: “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the Church.”

How can we as a small group thank and praise God for the peace He has given His church here in the United States?

How can we as a small group pray for our brothers and sisters that are being persecuted all over the world? If Christ identifies with them, do you think we should as well?

Compare your small group to the mindset of the early church. Is your primary objective to make the gospel known for the glory of God among the people around you? How are you currently putting your strength and time into that purpose as a small group?

Paul’s passion for the Gospel was white hot.  We can learn a lot from him…he never quit, he never gave up…he went, at tremendous cost and risk.

Ya’ll have a great lesson!

Sunday Lesson

Posted: September 23, 2011 in Upcoming lessons

I think we have seen this before, but it is worth seeing again….we have looked at Acts 1 & 2.  In Acts 1 the Holy Spirit was promised and in Acts 2 the Holy Spirit came.  Those who received the Holy Spirit were changed….the church was born….and the world was changed.

Do you think we understand the power of the Spirit?  Do we take the Spirit for granted?  Sunday we will talk about the Holy Spirit again.  Reread Acts 2 and think about a life filled with the Holy Spirit.

“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth:  It is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you.  But if I go, I will send Him to you.”

Watching the Republican Presidential Debate tonight…fun, fun.  If you could ask a question of the candidates, what would it be.  Who do you like?  Do you care?

Brandi likes Herman Cain!  I think Rick Perry grins like George Bush!  Give us your comments.

Do you like to run?  Do you hate to run….but are willing to do it for a good cause?

Well check out

This 5k run/walk supports a great ministry that helps to provide shoes for needy children in the Cape/Jackson area.

The race is October 8th @ 8 am at the SEMO River Campus.  Registration is from 7:00-7:45….or you can register on-line at the above web site.  Cost is $20, and includes a free shirt!

Great opportunity to be a light in our Jerusalem.  Great opportunity to have some fun together as a class.  And great opportunity to support Darren Schlitt from LBC who helps lead this ministry.

Sunday Lesson: Acts 2

Posted: September 16, 2011 in Upcoming lessons

Sunday we will build on Acts 1 and looks at Acts 2.  It is a very important chapter as we will see the birth of the church.  Think about the purpose of the church.  What is it here for?  What is it’s main purpose?  What is the gospel?   What is the role of the Holy Spirit?  Is the Holy Spirit powerful in your life?  What does it mean to quench the Spirit?  How do we quench the Spirit?

See you Sunday.
